While living in Milwaukee, I worked for 11 years at a Christian Science Church, with Susan Holmes as the wonderful weekly soloist. I always loved playing for Sue, and she was great about finding new rep. When it came time to give up this gig (the hardest gig to leave in Milwaukee), I wrote this setting of Mary Baker Eddy’s poem Satisfied for her. I got a chance to premiere it with Sue when I was back in town with The Phantom of the Opera National Tour, and you can hear that performance below. As you can tell from the recording, I like the piece rendered on organ with plenty of vibrato, but it works great with piano and voice too.

Here is a sample of the engraving.
